INTRO AUTOR

AUTHOR INTRO

Rubén Aguado Mateo, born in Madrid in 1977

Rubén is a model maker and creative plastic artist with more than 25 years of experience. His work covers different themes, but the common objective of all of them is to translate his various creative ideas into intentionally original and unique pieces.

As an artist he fuses various traditional techniques in his works, such as sculpture, molding, layout or carving; although he also uses more modern techniques such as layout, molding, the “Vacumm” system or 3D printing to support some of his work, but in recent years he has also begun to venture into projects that he calls “Living Art” or “Alive Art”. This new approach includes those pieces that the artist understands as finished, but that allow themselves to be “altered” by the viewer. The works can be modified as many times as desired, giving them many more interpretations than they could have in their original state.

During his latest works, he is also attracted to conceptual art projects, where the idea gains value over the technique, materials or finish.

He has always been passionate about certain themes such as the body, nature, balance, the passage of time, or the impossible… Through them he tries to reflect in his work concepts such as natural beauty, the strange, serenity, the recycled, the conceptual… among many others.

As the author himself tells us, from his first steps he perceived an unusual attraction for the creation of pieces. In his own words: «I can’t explain it well, but at the age of eight or nine I felt very attracted to sculpture, it was as if creativity was an important part of me”

According to him, he spent hours hanging around his father’s workshop (also a model maker) and from very early on he developed technical skills helping and learning from his “teacher” at home. There he began to open his mind to the world of creativity, making his first works when he was only 10 years old. This recreational hobby that he enjoyed passionately as a child, he now passes on to his daughter, naturally. “I’m creating a peculiar little creative monster,” he tells us.

His technical skills include:

* Conceptual works in various disciplines (sculpture, carving, modeling…) and 3D creations with multiple textures and finishes

* Prototyping, project development and applications for functional products

* Layout and other modern techniques (3D printing, Vacumm, molds, 3D modeling, etc.)

With the present exhibition “Let’s Let Creativity Fly” during January / February 2024 in T2 of the Adolfo Suárez Madrid Barajas Airport, Rubén intends, after opening up to show his works to the general public, to awaken that creative side in the viewer, and therefore natural, that each of us carries within us, thus motivating us in some way to “create” from an always positive approach.
